The Hotel Sheldon Chalet is located at an altitude of 1,829 meters above sea level, and from there offers a beautiful view of the “end of the world” and the northern lights.

Sheldon Chalet is located on the ridge of the Don Shelden Amphitheater on the Ruth Glacier. It is located at 1,829 meters above sea level and offers some of the most stunning views in Alaska.

This hotel can only be reached by private air helicopter. The minimum three-night stay, which costs $ 35,000, includes helicopter transportation, private concierge, gourmet restaurants and activities such as sledding, hiking and a rooftop sauna.

This villa has five bedrooms and can accommodate a maximum of 10 people at a time.

Sheldon Chalet is named after architects Don and Robert Sheldon who designed the original cabin in 1966, which was renovated in 2018 and converted into a luxury hotel by his sons Robert and Kate.

“Simple things like running water are really very luxurious when you’re on a glacier at an altitude of 1,800 meters,” said Marne Sheldon, Robert’s wife.

Robert admitted it was an indescribable feeling to finish something his parents had invented in the 1960s.

“My mom and dad were people worth remembering, but their desire for this location had nothing to do with their heritage. They just wanted other people to experience this place that is magnificent above all else. planet, “Robert said.
