The “Blue Origin” company of the American billionaire Jeff Bezos has sued the space agency NASA, for its decision to give the company “Space X” Ilona Maska a contract worth 2.9 billion dollars for the construction of a spaceship that will land on the Moon.
A federal court, Bezos’ company said, is considering “an illegal and inadequate assessment of NASA’s proposal,” Reuters reported.
The government’s responsibility office sided with NASA last month over its decision to choose just one lunar ground provider, rejecting the Blue Origin protest.
In April, NASA signed a $ 2.9 billion contract with Ilona Mask, rejecting Bezos’ offer. The contract refers to the construction of a landing system that will bring astronauts to the surface of the Moon in 2024.
NASA previously announced that it can only sign a contract with a company due to cost reductions.
