Today, the World Health Organization formed a new group of experts to test dangerous pathogens, which, as it estimates, is the “last chance” to determine the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and has invited China to cooperate.
The first case of coronavirus in the human population was recorded in the Chinese city of Wuhan in 2019, and China has consistently denied allegations that the virus originated from its laboratories and announced that visits by U.S. officials ‘World Health Organizations are no longer needed.
The World Health Organization has appointed 26 members of the Scientific Advisory Group on the Origin of New Pathogens, including Marion Kopmans, Tea Fischer and Yang Jungui, a Chinese expert who participated in the joint investigation in Wuhan, reports Reuters .
The representative of the World Health Organization, Maria van Kerkove, said that China will cooperate with the new mission and that about thirty studies are needed to determine how the virus passed from animals to humans.
Mike Ryan, the World Health Organization’s chief expert, said this new group is the latest opportunity to determine the origin of the virus that “has shut down our entire world”.
